I Can’t believe we are here in December already. A prompt on my instagram feed asking where I’d gone (thank you thistlesandkiwis). The ask, had I given up my blog providing the fuel for a post and an entry for the weekend coffee share hosted by Natalie.
I’ve been writing in different ways just not sharing on WordPress. Writing in Community and sharing a daily practice. It’s very different in the sense it’s just about sharing those drafts, day by day and drip by drip. There is no expectation to finish a post, to be grammatically correct or even show up. However because everyone does, it becomes compelling, a marathon of sorts. Especially in the mind and to quote Baz Lurman….maybe out of context, ‘sometimes your ahead and sometimes your not‘.
The beauty of it though is that the folk who are ahead are in the same place…it’s not a race, they pick you up, they inspire, they share and they push. The folk who feel behind marvel at the folks posting everyday, unbeknownst to them that it is also a struggle for the veterans, they too need the encouragement, the inspiration and the validation. Sometimes they get colds, they get hit by waves of life forcing them to dip out and then there is the pull, to dip back in and complete what was once started. It’s a team sport of the mind and it really comes down to the practice. The practice of showing up, being kind to your self.
A lake where everyone can pour out the words they have inside, they show up to the shore, share, perhaps take a glass of the combined wisdom, digest, work it through, come back adding more magic to the flow. Growing in the process, the power of compounding and getting better every day. Feeding the mind, sharing ideas through gifting to the community.
Here we are in December nearly at the half way point for this run. Working the muscle of writing, without fear of making a mistake, the wall. There are friends who’ve ran this block before, a welcome sight, and then some new faces, new energy and more encouragement. I’m so enjoying this as a journey rather than a goal this time.
Here we are in December though, and the niggles start in the mind. So much to still write about if I really want to complete that book. A realisation that it’s not going to happen by that date in January….the resistance. That said I’m writing for me, the side alleys I take on the way are enjoyable, they help shape my mind, help me understand process and commitment. It makes my journey interesting and I can’t face recipe after recipe and a realisation that the cookbook is more a vessel for my thoughts and my memories as I show up.
The #WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up hosted by Natalie the Explorer that serves as weekly heart beat and sort of of a mind-dump. Helps me reflect on my week, with a list of achievements, thoughts and rambles normally whilst drinking a beverage probably listening to music.
So lovely to see you back at the weekend coffee share! Your recent writing experience sounds really positive and ‘energising’ if you don’t mind me using that word.

Energising is definitely a good word. Written more in the last few months than I have in the last few years. Thanks again for saying hello.

Hi…please forgive me. I’m confused….do you also write the Beleaguered Servant blog or is that someone else? I’m trying to keep everyone straight in my mind.
I already miss Nanopoblano!!!
Have a great weekend 🌺

The community writing sounds very pleasant to me, and I’m thinking that when there’s no obligatiin really, you would be more relaxed and then the creative flow would come more easily.

All about getting those words down, the first draft and not being scared about it. It does work. Thanks for saying hello

I love the idea of writing just for yourself. I need to do that more–then maybe I’d struggle less with writing for others.

Sounds intriguing Alex.
Keep us posted.
Writing for me is such a solitary thing, I have a problem seeing how this would work.

It’s a little like the weekend coffee share, except on a daily basis with a view to working on the bigger projects that niggle away at the soul!

I am trying to get into writing as a daily practice. It’s not necessarily writing to publish, it could be writing to draft a post or writing out an idea on a piece of paper. I decided to give myself 25 minutes of uninterrupted time to write just about anything.
